Among the joyous guest editors on BBC Radio 4 is Cate Blanchett.

Blanchett will guest edit BBC Radio 4’s Today show over the Christmas season.

Between December 24 and December 31, broadcaster Melvyn Bragg, historian and podcaster Tom Holland, inventor Sir James Dyson, and Mustafa Suleyman, head of artificial intelligence (AI) at Microsoft, will all be guest editors.

During the holiday season, the news show has delegated editorial control to guest editors for the previous 22 years.

“This year’s guest editors will help bring illumination and understanding in a rapidly changing world,” stated Today editor Owenna Griffiths.

“Every Christmas on Today, a new group of guest editors take up residence and bring with them a wonderful range of new stories, fresh ideas, and, hopefully, a sprinkling of joy,” she continued. This year is no different.

Blanchett’s show on December 27 will examine how various nations are handling the refugee issue as well as the effects of AI technology on women in the film business.

She is also anticipated to discuss the benefits of gardening for the soul and sustainability in the fashion industry.

On Christmas Eve, the guest editors begin with a program from Bragg that focuses on shifting societal perceptions of mental health and the roots of the nativity narrative.
