Max George of The Wanted claims that having a heart ailment was “a blessing in ways.”

Max George, the singer of The Wanted, has described his heart ailment as “a blessing in ways” because it has allowed him to connect with many other young people going through similar experiences.

When doctors found that George, 37, had a blockage in his heart and needed immediate surgery, he was brought to the hospital in December 2024.

He said that getting a pacemaker was a bit of a “shock” at the time. Last year, he went back on stage with Siva Kaneswaran as a member of the duo The Wanted 2.0.

As his recuperation progresses, George told the PA news agency that talking to people about his and their ailments has been “really rewarding.”Due to “boredom,” the musician initially posted on Instagram about his hospital stay for cardiac issues. He told PA, launching a new British Heart Foundation awareness campaign, “Interacting with people was just something nice to do.”

“But the more I spoke to people, the more I realised that there was a lot of people my age and younger that have had this happen to them.”
George will keep sharing his experiences with heart block on red benches across the UK as part of the campaign.

He went on to say that his personal experience had “triggered a thought process” that increasing awareness of the fact that cardiac problems “don’t just happen to people over 75” was “important.””I’m all for it if I can help them with their story or help raise more money for heart condition treatment,” he added.
