Charity event at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago is being defended by John Stamos.

John Stamos is responding to fan criticism of his April 5 attendance at a charity event at the Mar-a-Lago resort, where U.S. President Donald Trump is a guest.

In response to online criticism of his Palm Beach Ray of Hope Gala attendance, the 61-year-old actor clarified to his admirers that his decision was not “political”.

On April 7, the Full House actor posted to Instagram Stories, “I accepted the invitation to emcee the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Gala — an evening dedicated to honouring and uplifting our frontline heroes.”

“The critical shortage of healthcare professionals in Palm Beach County is directly addressed by this nonpartisan organisation, which even supports The Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations, a 501(c)(3) that trains 350-400 nurses every year.”

Backing nurses isn’t a political stance; it’s a need. I think we should be there for these individuals with the same steadfast commitment they show up with every day; they’re the ones that care about us and our family when we’re down and out, he went on to say.

“Healthcare, service, and investing in community carers are priorities that I will not waver from.

“If you’re unable to donate to Palm Beach Ray of Hope, I implore you to consider donating to Democracyforward.org instead. This nonprofit organisation takes into account both the immediate defensive needs and the longer-term, proactive view in the fight for our democracy, our present, and our future,” he wrote, offering a link to the organisation.

That “President Trump swore an oath to the Constitution” is the message that greets donors on the Democracy Forward website. “We can’t hold him and his administration responsible without your assistance.”
