
Bollywood actor Dharmendra passed away in Mumbai, India, at the age of 89.
The actor was honoured by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who said that his death “marks the end of an era in Indian cinema.”
Dharmendra’s tens of millions of supporters were incredibly devoted to him, and he frequently referred to himself as “a simple man.”
He starred in almost 300 films, many of which were hits and captivated viewers for decades. He is best known for his role as Veeru, the endearing small-time criminal in the 1975 blockbuster Sholay.
His relationship and marriage to Hema Malini made headlines, and his songs topped the charts.
The actor’s death was announced after earlier reports that he had died on November 10. His family buried them, and he was later released from the hospital.
His children, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta Deol, Ajita Deol, Esha Deol, and Ahana Deol, as well as his widow, actor Hema Malini, survive him.
Soon after the actor’s passing was announced, condolences started to come in.
